Davis Daily Graces: Sam: 6-Months

John is my best friend, our family's leader, and the man God chose for me to spend the rest of my life with. I can say that with 100% confidence that God made us for each other, because only He could have brought us together! You see, John and I had known each other for more than 2 years before God alowed us to see each other through His eyes. We had mutual friends who were constantly trying to fix us up, yet neither one of us were the least bit interested. God arranged for us to be on a cruise in January 2006 together and to say that He moved mountains to bring us together is a gross understatement. It really was like I looked at him one moment and thought, Wow! I think my life is about to change forever! I am so blessed to have such an amazing man to share my life with. He has a servant's heart and is the calm, reassuring voice in my crazy high-strung life. He is an awesome daddy as well. I never met John's dad, he died one year earlier, to the date, that John and I shared our first kiss. However, I'd like to say that with each passing day, I get a small glimpse of what Sunny Davis must have been like as a dad, because his son is the best dad I could have ever dreamed of my children having.

I am extremely Type A and a tad bit high-strung, however, I love my family and they bring me to my calm, resting place each day. My favorite thing to do is to hang out with my family in our P.J.s and just spend time with one another. I am extremely close to my mom and would say that she is my best friend. I love children and would like to have a house full of them someday, if the Lord wills it so. I have always been told that I had an older soul. I can remember in high school waiting patiently for the day that I could have a family of my own. I feel like my life is complete with my family, however, I don't feel that my family is complete. We have struggled with infertility for the past 2 years and have suffered the loss of a baby at 12 weeks gestation. My heart aches for more children, yet I am learning to trust God and to be content with what He has blessed me with. I have lots of ambitions, but try to mold my activities according to the mission I feel God has called me to. I am in the process of starting an American Heritage Girls troop and want my life to be spent winning over young girls for the Kingdom of God.

Allie Cameron Davis came into my life on March 19th, 2008 at 1:36 a.m. After 24 weeks of "all-day" sickness, a contantly dislocating pelvis, and then a broken and dislocated tailbone at 33 weeks, I never thought that precious child would ever arrive. She did arrive, and 3 weeks early, weighing a moderate 8lbs 9oz at 21inches long! I am affraid of what she would have weighed had she cooked for another 3 weeks! She has brought us joy through so many trials in her short little life. When Allie was 9 months old, I lost my dad to cancer. She was Papa's Angel while he was alive and now she is my mom's (Mimi) angel bringing her through the sadness. Allie has the funniest personality. She is a cobination of my Meme (her Super Meme) and John's mom. She never meets a stranger and is always keeping us on our toes! I pray that she would come to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and that she would be influential in her school and community. I love this girl more than she could ever know. Next to being a great wife, being a good mommy to her is one of my biggest goals in life.

Sam: 6-Months

This is my fun-loving Sam to a "T." He is sweet, spirited, and in to EVERYTHING! If I could afford it, I would have a house full of little boys. I totally love being a Boy-Momma. Don't get me wrong, I love my girl with all of my heart and I couldn't live a day without her, but if we were to have more children, I would want more boys.

So John brought it to my attention that we celebrated every month of Allie's first year of life and as he put it, "We haven't done squat for Sam..." So...challenge accepted! In about 2 hours, I had a party planned and a cake bought to celebrate Sam's 1/2 Birthday. Let me tell you, if you are ever in a pinch, Harps is your place to go for a quick cake. It was delicious and the girl customized it for me in less than 10 minutes.

We (Allie and I) decided to go with the Caillou theme. Allie loves watching Sprout therefore Sam loves watching Sprout and we think Sam looks a lot like Caillou (pronounced Kie-you). So it was an easy decision. They even had a 1/2 Birthday candle. (Who Knew?!)

I wanted to get a picture of Sam with his cake, but THIS, I was not expecting AT ALL! I stood back to take a picture and when I looked through the view finder....This is what I saw. Oh Well....a little cake never hurt anyone! I will have to share that I had to warn Miss Bridget because his spit up and diaper were a little yellow-tinged from the food coloring. Ha!

John and I have been debating about his hair color. I say its Strawberry Blonde- Red....John says I'm crazy.... What do you think?

Sam Stats:

Weight: 20 lbs 13 oz (85%)

Length: 27 3/4 inches (76%) Oh No! He may take after Mimi's side of the family

Head Circumference: 18 inches (86%)

Teeth: 4 (working on a couple more) However, the 4 that he has are his bottom middle teeth and his upper "I" teeth...making him the cutest vampire in town.

Starting to sit with and without support. Loves his "Jump-Jump." Will get up on his hands and knees and rock back in forth....I know its coming soon!
