Parent Committment Service

We recently had our Parent Committment Service at Church. A lot of churches have baby dedication services, but our church believes that it should be the parents who are being dedicated or committed to raising Godly children. They have classes that you attend on how to raise your children in a Godly home and how to pray for your children. At the end of the classes, each family chooses a life verse for thier baby and fills out a committment card with specific things that you are committing to. John and I committed to teaching Sam scripture. To teach him to turn to the Bible for every decision he faces. And to raise him in the Truth. His life verse, which I think I have shared before is 1 Samuel 1:27-28 "I prayed for this child, and the Lord gave me what I asked of him, so now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life, he shall be given to the Lord." This is where we got Sam's name and was the promise that John and I clung to for 2 years while we struggled to get pregnant.

I love these next 2 pictures. They are Allie Cameron to the "T." Always with some funny expression on her face. Silly, sweet girl!

Allie's Last Day of 3-Year-Old Preschool

For Allie's last day of 3-year-old Preschool, they had a picnic. She was so excited to play with her friends. I saw this idea on Pinterest of having them hold a picture from the first day of class to see how much they had changed. She was so excited I could barely get her to stand still long enough to take the picture. It is crazy how much she has changed. She had such a baby face when she started and now she is looking like a big girl.

Allie's teacher, Miss Susan bought the kids water guns. It was perfect for a hot day at the park. Allie has loved every minute of preschool and has made some great friends. I am so thankful for her sweet personality and her outgoing nature.

Sam: 2 Months Old

I can not believe how fast this little boy is growing. These pictures aren't the best, but he is so stinkin cute. His little personality is really starting to show.

Some Sam Stats:

Diapers: Size 1 and can wear size 2

Clothes: 3-6 Months

Food: Alimentum thickened to necktar about 4 oz every 3-4 hours.

Sleeping: Usually sleeps 4 hours at a time at night. During the day it is more like 1-2 hours.

Fun things: Sam's biggest change this month is his ability to interact and smile. He also has the ability to let us know when he is not very happy. He makes the cutest pouty face and can stick his bottom lip out a mile. When he does it, we all say "Awww The Lip!" Even Allie says it. So funny!
We are starting to get a handle on the reflux and I can tell that Sam is such a happy boy when his tummy isn't hurting him. It's like we get small glimpses of our sweet boy in between bouts with reflux and gas. The latest struggle has been with blocked tear ducts. You can tell in these pictures that his right eye is red. It is definietly the worse of the two, but we are constantly having to do warm rags on his eyes. I will be so glad when I can see his pretty blue eyes again. We are on our 2nd perscription eye drop and hopefully they will clear up soon.

Sam, We love you so much. I can not imagine our life without you. You are everything I prayed for and more. I pray that God will keep you healthy and happy and that you will know the Lord at an early age.

Sip-N-See Shower

Before Sam was born, my Sister-in-Law asked if she could give me a shower. I had had a couple of showers already and had been blessed with all that we really needed, so we decided to wait until after Sam was born and do a Sip-N-See/ Shower so that all of John's family and friends could see Sam. We are so blessed to have wonderful family and friends that are always doing so much for us.

It is so fun to get to include Allie in girlie things like baby showers. I love seeing her and her friends doing what the women are doing. The was Allie with her cousin Lyndsey and friends Jaida and Lora Beth. Sweet Girls!
I had asked John's mom if she would get us some more swaddle blankets. These things are like magic. Turn Sam into a baby burrito and he is asleep in no time. Well, he got a little fussy at the shower, so I know I broke every ettiquette rule there is and asked her if I could get one out of the gift sack before we open gifts. Ha! Here is Miss Lisa rocking our sweet boy.

And, of course, Allie had to help. She even got a gift, just for her!

It was a great day spent with friends and family celebrating our Sam.

Sam: 6 Weeks Old

I can't believe our big boy is 6 weeks-old! He is really starting to watch us a be aware of our voices. It is so fun to begin to interact with our Sam. He has started to smile and has the sweetest grin. Sometimes he only raises one side of his mouth when he grins and he looks like Elvis!

Here are some of Sam's stats:

Weight: 11 pounds 13 oz

Clothes: 3-6 months (I tried to put on a 0-3 months outfit and it was super tight! I can't believe how much he is growing)

Eating: Alimentum, thickened to Nectar, plus Zantac 3-5oz every 2.5-4.5 hours

Sleeping: He has finally figured out his days and nights. He usually sleeps 3-4 hours at a time at night and normally 1-2 hours at a time during the day.
Sam, You are such a blessing! Mommy and Daddy talk all the time about when you are older and able to play with Allie (and Daddy) how much fun it is going to be. Secretly, Mommy wants you to stay a baby for a while because I know there will come a time when you wont want to snuggle with me anymore. But for right now, I snuggle with you and take naps with you every chance I get. I love you all the way to the moon and back!
